  1. I'll add to that good explanation by saying that the net effect would be that
  2. if there were a Unix machine or other host with a tape drive on your
  3. network, this would allow you to issue a command to backup your
  4. PC to the tape drive on the other machine.

  7. right now to make GNU tar work with winsock.  Somebody (I don't recall 
  8. specifics) has done a PC version that talks to ASPI scsi tape.
